“Let us build a house where love is found in water, wine, and wheat,
a banquet hall on holy ground where peace and justice meet.
Here the love of God through Jesus is revealed in time and space
as we share in Christ the feast that frees us.
All are welcome, all are welcome, all are welcome in this place.”
[Marty Haugen, b. 1950]
St.Thomas Lutheran Church is on the east side of Bloomington, at the southwest corner of the intersection of East Third Street and Smith Road. Our parking lot entrance is off Smith Road, immediately south of the intersection. Worship times are on the HOME page. A bike rack is available at the east entrance.
Our building is fully handicap-accessible. Large-print bulletins and assistive-hearing devices are available.
We are Christ-centered, ecumenical in spirit and practice, and welcoming to all. We asked ourselves, what would make visitors and newcomers feel truly welcomed? When people visit a church for the first time, they often have all kinds of questions in advance – here are answers to all the questions we could think of!
St. Thomas is a Safe Sanctuary and follows a set of policies that help to make congregations safe places where children, youth and elders may experience the abiding love of God and fellowship within the community of faith.
Because we are guided by the words of scripture that “God shows no partiality,” (Acts 2:34; Romans 2:11) we affirm the ministries of persons of varying backgrounds and life paths. St. Thomas has been a Reconciling In Christ congregation since the 1980s.
